Ever have those days or even weeks where everything just works out perfectly? Somehow you get to school pick up exactly on time, your little one goes to bed like a dream, your boss loves your presentation, your shallot cream sauce comes out amazing for your company and your hair is just working! (most important). Well.. I am smack dab in the middle of one of those weeks and I am loving it!
So my ‘perfect’ this week has been in the shopping category. Earlier this week I hit my two favorite antique haunts and scored twice.
Wanna see?……
So I pull up to one of my favorite antique stores and this beauty has just come off her truck from a silk mill up North. I fell in love instantly. I knew I had the perfect place for it in my kitchen and I couldn’t believe my luck (or how dirty it was).
I knew it could be beautiful.

It never even made it into the store…I know a good thing when I see it and I snatched it up.

I took it home and gave it a good cleaning and now I have a feeling it will be the hardest working piece in my house…
I needed something for this spot (where I previously had a piece I didn’t love)….. and it fits perfectly

White mini pumpkins in a distressed fluted bowl…what could be better?

I think it works ‘perfectly’…what do you think?

And this is what I meant about the hardest working piece in my house….

My husband’s reaction to my ‘perfect score’ “it has like 20 drawers, what will you put in them?” Oh men…Oh husbands…will you ever understand us? Check back with me in like 10 minutes and this will be full …..because can you ever really have enough spoons?
And on to ‘perfection ‘score # 2
Not as big of commitment…. but at another one of my favorite antique stores I found this over the top gilded antique mirror for $20. It was not exactly my taste but it had good bones. It was super heavy and really substantial and old. So I snatched it up with some plans. I decide to paint it white but with very light brush strokes so the gold would peek through a bit. I didn’t think to take a pic until I was almost done…….

See it had good bones…but very decorative and very gold. I love a soft and muted gold but this was not it.

By the way the reflection in the mirror is of the bead board on my porch ceiling…(my favorite place to paint)

The power of a can of white paint….always…every time it woks!

SO it replaced a mirror that I didn’t love as much in my back hall/mudroom.
I love it! ‘Perfect’

Did everything work out perfectly? Dare I say?

But look at this succulent mini-garden!!!! my husband and daughter created this. I’m telling you it, is double the size it was in June. (The secret: sand and pebbles!)
